Copenhagen’s Geranium Named Best Restaurant in the World for 2022

With Latin America taking up nearly 1/4 of the list.

Holding its award ceremony at the Old Billingsgate market in London, the World’s 50 Best Restaurant list crowned Copenhagen’s Geranium the world’s best restaurant for 2022. Central in Lima, Peru and Disfrutar in Barcelona, ​​Spain took the second and third places, respectfully.

Maintaining its strong showing, Asia saw seven restaurants land on the list. Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants of 2022 included Tokyo’s Den (20th), Hong Kong’s The Chairman (24th), Tokyo’s Florilège (27th), Singapore’s Odette (36th), Bangkok’s Sorn (39th), Osaka’s La Cime (41st), and Tokyo’s Narisawa (45th).

South America came out even stronger with nine spots on the list, including Mexico City’s Pujol (5th), São Paulo’s A Casa do Porco (7th), Mexico City’s Quintonil (9th), Lima’s Maido (11th), Buenos Aires’ Don Julio (14th), Lima’s Mayta (32nd), Santiago’s Borago (43rd), Rio de Janeiro’s Oteque (47th), and Bogota’s Leo coming in at number 48. Mexico City saw two of its restaurants in the top 10, with 4 of the top 5 spots coming from Spanish-speaking countries.

Latin America’s Best 50 Restaurants of 2022 saw Mexico and Argentina dominate with 11 spots each, taking up nearly half of the top 50 spots together. The United States, however, saw only two restaurants on the list: New York’s Atomix (33rd) and La Bernardin (44th).
